Meet our Pastor
WELCOME REV. CHRIS HAWKS Heather, Luke, Samuel
Pastor Chris was born October 7th, 1971 in Winston Salem and was
raised in Richmond County, NC. He grew up going to church with his
family and was introduced to Christ by his parents and had the privilege of
being baptized by his dad, also a baptist minister.
After graduating from Richmond Senior High, Pastor Chris went to Campbell
University and spent a couple of years, in his own words, "wondering
around with no purpose." In 1994 God became real in Pastor Chris'
life and it was at this time he surrendered his life to God. Through the
leadership and guidance of some wonderful pastors and friends, Pastor Chris
enrolled and graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute and then went on to
graduate from Wingate University. He is currently in graduate
school at Liberty University. Through the years Pastor Chris had
been able to minister in some wonderful places and do exciting ministry.
One of the most exciting times in ministry for Pastor Chris is seeing
people come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. "I love the
moment when you see the light come on in someone's life and they realize God
really does love them, that is awesome."
Pastor Chris is married to Heather and they have two sons, Luke and Samuel.
When not doing something at church, you may find Pastor Chris hanging out with
his family, or maybe fishing with his sons. His favorite pastimes are
playing the guitar, and collecting antiques, or according to his wife,
"the junk in the building."
"I am so excited about being able to serve God in Richmond County.
I look forward to seeing what God is going to accomplish through the
ministry of 2nd Baptist."
